The University was founded on 5th February, 1960 by the USSR Government. On 22nd February, 1961, the RUDN University was named after Patrice Lumumba — one of the symbols of the African peoples’ fight for independence.
Today RUDN University
is a modern university which maintains long-standing traditions and has set the new heights to reach. In 2016 RUDN University started rebranding. RUDN University vector is defined in its Mission which says "Uniting people of different cultures by knowledge RUDN University creates leaders to make the World better". The university strategy is aimed at creating leaders able to meet the challenges of the modern society and deal with worldwide regional and global issues

To apply for the first year of Bachelor’s / Specialist’s / Master’s / Postgraduate studies, a foreign citizen has to submit the following documents:
This year, RUDN University is accepting foreign citizens for training in Bachelor’s / Master’s / Specialist’s programs on the basis of competitive selection, taking into account the assessment of the portfolio submitted by a foreign citizen. Most important is the following: average academic grade at the previous place of study with special emphasis on the score in core subjects for the future major; participation in competitions and Olympiads in specialized disciplines; recommendations from RUDN University, public organizations, associations, associations of Russian and foreign institutions, certificates of the Russian language proficiency. For Master’s programs, the position of the previous university in the world ranking will be also taken into account.
For postgraduate programs, research articles and a letter of motivation
are required.

The contribution of each selection criterion to the final ranking of the candidate is determined by the Rules for Admission to RUDN University for training in Bachelor’s, Specialist’s and Master’s programs for the 2021/2022 academic year (Order No. 664 of October 29, 2020)

CAMPUS
The RUDN University campus is situated in southwestern Moscow in one of the beautiful and ecologically clean places of the city. The most “green” Russian university (according to the UIGreenMetric World University Ranking) is located nearby the parkland covered 50 hectares.

There are 20 teaching blocks and 14 dormitories on the Mikluho-Maklaya Street named in honor of the Russian traveler and ethnographer. More than 8000 students and PhD candidates live in comfortable rooms or apartments with every convenience — bath-room, equipped kitchen, Internet connection, satellite TV. There is a laundry and ironing table as also study hall in every building. Fire protection and twenty-four-hours video monitoring systems ensure safety of the territory. What is very comfortable is that all buildings in the campus are situated in close proximity to each other.
There are excellent opportunities for a full life in the campus: stores and branch bank, barbershops, a dry-cleaner, parking lots and car service centre. After classes students can relax in different cafes and restaurants, enjoy their authentic national cuisine — African, Arab, Indian, Russian, Chinese, Georgian.
